With well over a decade of experience, Rick Mercure has litigated thousands of cases ranging from simple misdemeanors to capital felonies, highly contested divorces and complex civil matters. As a former partner at one of Florida’s largest insurance defense firms, Rick has represented some of the nation’s largest insurance carriers in a multitude of state and federal personal injury suits. He uses that experience to represent those injured by the negligence of others.
Rick graduated with Honors from the University of Florida in 2009 and obtained his Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Miami in 2012. During his law school tenure, Rick was hand-selected amongst the largest class in school history to be the Research Assistant to a leading defense attorney and professor of law. Additionally, Rick’s legal writing skills secured him a coveted position on the Law Review and the Dean’s List.
Following graduation, Rick gained extensive courtroom and trial experience working at the Public Defender’s offices in Miami, Gainesville, and Fort Myers. Once he entered private practice, Rick earned the Avvo Client’s Choice Award three (3) years in a row, as well as the “10 Best” Lawyers for Client Satisfaction.
On a personal note, when he’s not fighting big insurance, Rick enjoys off-road racing and exploring the outdoors with his wife, a Gainesville native, and three young children: Chandler, Reagan and Reed.
Rick’s rare combination of injury law experience on both the defense and plaintiff’s side gives him a distinct advantage and ability to provide unparalleled service to personal injury clients as a member of the Bagen Law team.
